SANTA CRUZ, CA April 12, 2004-Build-A-Pond Day is coming to the Central Coast on April 17, 2004. A special event held in the Spring, Build-A-Pond Day is an opportunity for local residents to spend a day with professional pond builders and learn the step-by-step process for building a complete pond, stream and waterfall system. PondMagic, in conjunction with Pottery Planet and the Pot Stop at Little Baja, are sponsoring the event, which starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. The cost is $50.00. Lunch (sandwiches and sodas) will be provided. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Call PondMagic at 831-426-6956 to sign-up.

Build-A-Pond Day is an educational workshop, and a social event that can build camaraderie and a sense of community. Attendees are welcome to wear work boots, bring shovels and participate in constructing the pond and waterfall system. Activities will include marking-out the pond area, excavating soil, laying a liner, placing rock and gravel over the liner, and positioning accent boulders around the edge of the pond. At the end of the day, each Build-A-Pond Day attendee will receive an instructional video, and an owners manual with guidelines for building and maintaining a pond as well as information about fish and plants for water gardens.

A water garden transforms any environment into a place where you can connect with nature, says Tim Gillett, owner of PondMagic. When you come home after working all day, you can sit down and enjoy the sound of falling water. Its calming, like an oasis in your yard.

The next Build-A-Pond Day will be held on May 21, 2004 at La Bruschetta restaurant, 5447 Highway 9, Felton. For information, call PondMagic at 831-426-6956.
